The Clansman Intelligent Battery Management System IBMS type UK-IBMU-810. Manufactured by Widney Aish Ltd, Poole, England.

The unit is a microprocessor based battery charger and conditioner for Clansman Nickel Cadmium batteries. The system comprises of two main units, The IBMS and the interchangeable battery tray. Depending on the battery tray installed the IBMS is capable of simultaneously charging up to eight different Nickel Cadmium ôNiCdö batteries at the same time.

Power on self test ôBITEö and it can provide independent status reports for all the batteries installed in the battery tray. A tactical operation facility enables all the visual LED indicators to be blacked out and all audible warnings to be stopped while the system is operating under a black out conditions.

The IBMS performs four types of battery management operations: Fast Charging in 5 hours, Slow Charging over 15 hours, Trickle Charging until the battery is removed and Conditioning over 24-70 hours. In addition to battery charging and conditioning operations it can also detect faulty batteries.

The IBMS can be used in a mobile field role ôinstalled in a vehicleö or installed at a base station. The IBMU can operate from any 28 volt DC power supply capable of delivering 6A. This would normally be a vehicle power supply or an AC adapter such as the Clansman UK-AC1-2870 ôavailable elsewhere on this website.

The Clansman BCC-543 VHF Automatic Antenna Tuning Unit or the TUAAM is used with Clansman VRC-353 and other Clansman VHF radio sets such as the PRC-351 and PRC-352 Man-Pack radios in vehicle roles using an Initiate Box.

The ATU is normally fitted inside the Land Rovers wing antenna box and automatically matches the selected frequency to the antenna to give optimum performance and achieve maximum range with the radio set. The Clansman 25 Watt HF Selector Unit SURF for use with the Clansman VRC-321 HF vehicle transceiver. It can also be used with other HF radio transmitters with output powers of up to 25 Watts.

The SURF is used when more than one radio is used in close proximately and prevents one radio interfering with the other radio. The SURF is then tuned to give optimum performance and achieve maximum range with the radio set.

The digital Radiological Test Equipment PDR-7000 is a modern, professional Geiger counter with extensive features. Manufactured by FAG Kugelfischer in Germany to very high military standards.

The counter is auto-ranging with a built-in LCD display that shows the results both digitally and analogue. A power on self test routine makes sure the unit is functioning correctly. The Geiger Counter is so sensitive that it can measure very low normal background radiation. For example, the normal background radiation in London is between 0,07 ?Gy/h and 0,09 ?Gy/h. The unit can take readings externally with a 15 meter probe extension cable and the Gamma Probe DT 7002 as well as the Beta-Gamma Probe DT 7003 and a special probe DT 7004 for testing radiation in liquids.

The DOM-410 Geiger Counter was used by Dutch, French and Belgian Army in the late 1970's early 1980's. It is manufactured to high standard under license from SRAT. It is hermetically sealed unit and water tight.

The Beta Gamma probe has a removable Gamma shield, and is quite large, giving it a sensitivity of roughly 1 CPS background. In the CPS mode, 1000 CPS = 1 mr per hour. It has 3 Time constants Rapide, Lent, Mesure and 3 ranges 10 CPS, 100 CPS, 1000 CPS. In the Gamma only mode, the selector uses the internal gamma compensated tube, which may be removed from the side of the unit, and placed at the end of a 20 foot cable for remote monitoring. In the mr per hour mode it uses the internal gamma tube to measure 1-1000 millirads per hour.

When switched to the Rad/hr mode, the internal or remote mounted gamma only tube will measure from 1 rad per hour up to 1,000 rads per hour. Overall, it is a very sensitive Geiger counter that is robustly built and designed to take allot of abuse.

This is the 5 Meter Extension lead for the External Beta / Gamma Probe of the DOM-410 Geiger Counter.

This extension lead uses very unusual connectors that are very hard to find! These connectors look similar to BNC connectors but they are not!

This lead can be modified and plugged into any of the three sockets that are provided on the DOM-410 Geiger Counter.

The three sockets on the DOM-410 Geiger Counter are the External Beta / Gamma Probe Socket, External Warning Light Socket and the External Headset Socket. Please see pictures below.

This is the 5 Meter Extension lead and holder for the Internal Gamma Probe of the DOM-410 Geiger Counter.

The internal Gamma Probe is unplugged from the side of the DOM-410 Geiger Counter and plugged into this extension lead, the extension lead is then plugged in to the DOM-410 where the Gamma sensor used to be, allowing remote operation from upto 5 meters away, please see pictures below.

The SEM-52S radio is the modern synthesised version of the SEM-52A radio set. It was until now a hard to find item and it is still used even today by the German Army. The SEM-52S is a portable handheld synthesised VHF radio transceiver which operates 46.000-57.975 MHz. 6 channels can be programmed internally by rotary switches from 400 possible channels in 25 KHz steps.

A speaker / Microphone are now built in to the radio as well as the PTT switch. Noise-operated squelch is provided for quiet operation and the radio is also DATA capable. External Audio accessories such as Handset or Headsets can still be plugged in to the radio. Power Output 1 Watt and operates from 12 Volts DC using 8 standard AA 1.5 Volt batteries.

The radio is normally worn on the left chest using the carrying harness and is very easy to operate in that position with the flexible Tape Antenna extending over your left shoulder. The antenna socket is very cleaver in design as it allows a normal BNC plug to be used or the Tape Antenna to be plugged in.
