A personal locator beacon is a device that when activated automatically transmits a signal on a internationally monitored frequency. This emergency frequency is constantly monitored and should a beacon be heard, help is sent out to locate and rescue the person in trouble. That said the authorities would be extremely annoyed if the unit is activated by unauthorised people and for no good reason.
The PYE ARI23237/1 provides distress beacon and two way voice communications facilities on the 243 & 282.80 MHz military distress bands.
A rotary switch on top of the unit selects power on/off, Distress & Auxiliary Channels. The Auxiliary channel is on 282.80 MHz and is Speech only. The distress channel is on 243 MHZ and is the automatic Beacon or Speech. A volume control and a push button self test facility are also provided. The unit is powered by a 12 Volt battery not available and has a transmitting range of 3Km.
The unit is supplied in good looking condition with-out any accessories. The pull cords, battery, antenna or a manual are not available. Dimensions: 80mm x 90mm x 35mm, Weight: 0.5 Kg. NSN: 5821-99-630-9247.
The equipment consists of a number of basic units which can be combined into various configurations, ranging from a simple low powered man-pack to a complex 30 Watt vehicle or Tank configuration as well as radio repeater roles. Various configurations make for greater tactical flexibility.Duplex working, retransmission, intercom, telegraph facsimile, medium speed data transmission, are all possible with this radio station depending to the units used. Advanced circuitry, rugged and 100% solid state construction assures easy, reliable and trouble-free operation under severe combat operations.

The R-392/URR is the little brother of the famous Collins R-390 receiver, it is designed by Collins and built under licence by a number of manufactures including Collins Radio Company, Philco Corporation, Western Electric and Stewart Warner. The R-392/URR is essentially a R-390 that is re-packaged in a water resistant case. It is ruggerised and is made more compact than the standard R-390 for use in military vehicles and field command posts. It operates from 24-28 Volt DC @ 3 Amps. The radio is very silent in operation as it does not use any vibrators, dynamotors or other noisy voltage converters. The R-392/URR Receiver provides continuous tuning and covers 0.5-32 MHz in 32 bands. AM, CW (Voice or Tone) and SSB using BFO for product detection, Three Bandwidth settings 2, 4 and 8 KHz. Calibration points is provided every 100 kHz throughout its range. The radio can be used as a stand alone receiver or as part of a two-way radio set with a T-195 Transmitter. This configuration was called the GRC-19.

The units are supplied as a pair, one MA-4230A Morse Encoder and one MA-4231 Morse Decoder and in very good condition, like new.
The MA-4230A Morse Encoder Unit enables a message to be transmitted in Morse code. The Morse message is entered using an alpha-numeric keyboard therefore no knowledge of the Morse code is necessary to operate the unit. The MA-4231 Morse Decoder decodes the Morse code being received and displays it one letter at the time on its red dot matrix display or sends it to a printer. Both units are powered by an internal rechargeable battery which provides approximately 16 hours use without recharging. The case fully sealed and waterproof.
Message entry is done via the keyboard which contains forty three Arabic alpha-numeric tactile keys, including SP space and seven function keys. Three indicators are provided showing when power is available, data is being emitted, and when the store is nearly full. The power indicator extinguishes when the battery voltage is low, and when the unit is switched off.
1024 character, non-volatile electronic memory Message store, Normal Transmission speed of 15 w.p.m. and High Speed 120 w.p.m. Keyed Tone Data output - Normal frequency: 1.0kHz. Amplitude: 20mV ? 3dB from 300 source. Contact closure Data output - normal speed only Contact rating 0.5A max.
These Battery Cassettes take 10* standard or rechargeable "C" sized batteries to power the radio set and is also fuse protected and simply clips on to the bottom of the TRA-967 radio set. These MA-968B Battery Cassettes are supplied in brand new condition, NOS. Available in limited numbers, batteries not included!
