The Clansman Intelligent Battery Management System IBMS type UK-IBMU-810. Manufactured by Widney Aish Ltd, Poole, England.

The unit is a microprocessor based battery charger and conditioner for Clansman Nickel Cadmium batteries. The system comprises of two main units, The IBMS and the interchangeable battery tray. Depending on the battery tray installed the IBMS is capable of simultaneously charging up to eight different Nickel Cadmium ôNiCdö batteries at the same time.

Power on self test ôBITEö and it can provide independent status reports for all the batteries installed in the battery tray. A tactical operation facility enables all the visual LED indicators to be blacked out and all audible warnings to be stopped while the system is operating under a black out conditions.

The IBMS performs four types of battery management operations: Fast Charging in 5 hours, Slow Charging over 15 hours, Trickle Charging until the battery is removed and Conditioning over 24-70 hours. In addition to battery charging and conditioning operations it can also detect faulty batteries.

The IBMS can be used in a mobile field role ôinstalled in a vehicleö or installed at a base station. The IBMU can operate from any 28 volt DC power supply capable of delivering 6A. This would normally be a vehicle power supply or an AC adapter such as the Clansman UK-AC1-2870 ôavailable elsewhere on this website.

This is the Clansman VRC-352M Back-Pack Radio that was mainly used by the Royal Marines. The radio is basically a PRC-351 that has been upgraded to work with the Clansman BID system, British Inter Departmental. The BID system is some sort of army voice or data encryption system? that is still secret and unavailable.

The upgrade is a interface board connected internally to one of the audio sockets of the PRC-352 which now acts as the BID interface. The radio can still be used as a normal PRC-352 with-out the BID system attached.The PRC-352M is a 20 Watt portable VHF (FM) Radio using a clip on external RF amplifier, made by RACAL BCC Ltd. in England. The PRC-352M has been designed to provide command communications at battalion and company level for dismounted troops. It was also used in vehicles by mounted troops.

Frequency Range 30 to 76.000 MHz in 25 Khz steps giving a total of 1841 programmable channels. The desired frequency is set by four knobs on the side of the radio which can be operated even while the operator is wearing Arctic mittens, or in the dark by counting clicks from the end-stops.

Intermediate Freq 11.525 MHz, Frequency Stability 5 ppm per year. Voice F3E Narrow with +/- 5 Khz deviation, Telegraph F2, 75 Baud.

A Whisper mode is provided for use when quiet conditions are essential. In this mode the receiver's audio output volume is reduced and the microphone sensitivity is increased. A Loud mode is also provided for operation in noisy environments as well as a Noise-On switch position which allows the radio to operate with the squelch in the off mode.

Local Squelch facility by either 150 Hz tone modulation of radiated signal, or by 160 Hz superimposed on receive signal. Auto-Rebroadcast operates on 150Hz Modulated receive signal.

Output power of the radio is 20 Watts into a 50 Ohm load using the RF amplifier. The amplifier can not be used on high power transmit using the radios normal whip antenna and instead a Ground-Spike Antenna is used. The amplifier can only be used on high power as a fixed radio station or in a vehicle using the vehicles antenna system. For mobile man-pack operations the battle antenna is fitted and the radio is operated on low power bypassing the amplifier as a PRC-351M.

If more than one radio set is used in close proximately a Selective Unit RF 4 Watt SURF should be installed on top of the PRC-351M radio. The SURF prevents one radio interfering with the other radio. The SURF is then tuned to give optimum performance and achieve maximum range with the radio set.

The radio is powered by a standard Clansman 24 Volt battery pack. The battery clips on to the bottom of the radio. The radio can also be powered / recharged with a Hand Generator which clips on between the radio and the battery. It can also be powered externally from Vehicle power supply or a 24 Volt DC Power Supply such as the UK-AC1-2870 14/28 Volt AC Adaptor, connected to the radio with a modified battery extension lead.

Clansman Flexible Antenna for PRC-350, PRC-351, PRC-352 Man-Pack radios. Total length is 26 Cm (10.23 inch). The antenna plugs in to the antenna socket of the radio. Supplied in very good condition. NSN: 5985-99-661-6417.

The Counterpoise Antenna provides an artificial earth for all antennas when used on ground of poor conductivity, such as desert of frozen snow and ice, and should always be used with the ground wave vertical or end feed antennas. In use the wires are spread radially around the radios such as a Clansman PRC-320 and the short lead from the main spool connected to the earth terminal of the radio. The counterpoise Antenna should always be used if doubtful about the ground conditions. Using this counterpoise antenna often improves the radios performance. Supplied in good condition.

The RU-2/1 is a ex-Yugoslav Peoples Army VHF radio starion. The radio is a low power portable VHF (FM) Radio, made by RUDI CAJAVEC, from Banja Luka (Ex Yugoslavia). The RU-2/1 has been designed to provide command communications at battalion and company level. It was also used in vehicles and by mounted troops. The RU2/1 replaced the older RUP-12 ex-Yugoslav peoples army VHF radio.

Frequency Range 30 to 69.95 MHz in 50 Khz steps. The desired frequency is set by 3 knobs on the front plate of the radio.

The radio is powered by a standard JNA 12V/6aH battery pack. It can also be powered externally from 12V Vehicle power supply.

The Clansman 25 Watt RF Antenna Tuner TURF, also known as ATU for use with the Clansman VRC-321 HF vehicle transceiver. It can also be used with other HF radio transmitters with output powers of up to 25 Watts.

The ATU is used to match the antennas length to the transmitting frequency for optimum performance and achieve maximum range with the radio set.

The British Army Clansman HF 250 Watt RF Power Amplifier. These amplifiers were designed to upgrade the standard VRC-321 to a VRC-322. The amplifier boosts the output power of the Clansman VRC-321 vehicle radio station to 250 Watts. It can also be used with other HF radios having an output power of 20-40 Watts.

The RF amplifier has been designed and developed by MEL Communications Ltd in Crawley, England for mobile or static use. It is primarily designed as an High Power HF vehicle station for mobile ground-wave operation, but can also be used as a ground station or for sky-wave operation over long distances.

Frequency range 1.5 to 30 MHz. Power output, High Power 300 Watt PEP (SSB), 250 Watt CW, Low Power 40 Watt PEP (SSB), 25 Watt CW. Beta light illumination is provided to enable the meter and Setting Switches to be read in the dark.

The equipment operates from 28 VDC power supply which can have a wide variation in nominal voltage

Two core twisted pair high temperature, fire resistant DON10, WD1/TT, D10 Telephone Cable with breaking resistance of up to 1/2 Tonne! These cables are used over long distances to connect together field telephones, line equipment and field telephone exchanges as well as remote handsets to Clansman radios.

Each cable core is double insulated with Polyethylene insulated conductor and secondary nylon insulation, and is black in colour. Wire diameter including insulation is 4.64mm, wire strand thickness 0.28mm. Each core has 7 strands of wire, 4 of which are plated copper wire and 3 strands of steel wire for toughness.

We have been asked many times for a easy Vehicle Intercom set-up. Here we have put together a Clansman intercom kit for up to 4 stations. This set-up uses the Gold Top ANR Active Noise Reduction version of the Clansman harness boxes. The Active Noise Reduction reduces the background noise that maybe present while driving for better voice communication.

This intercom kit can be used stand alone with-out a radio in any vehicle having a battery voltage of 24-28 Volt DC. It can also be used with up to two Clansman radios connected to the intercom.

The main unit in this kit is the Interconnecting Box 3 radio IB3. The IB3 provides audio amplification and DC power for the rest of the boxes. The IB3 can have up to 3 radios connected if used with Crew Boxes 3 Set CB3 but in this setup we are using CB2 boxes which provide connection up to 2 Clansman radios. If you require CB3 boxes with this kit then please let us know.

The IB3 requires 24-28 Volt DC to operate. This is taken from the vehicles power source. The IB3 is fuse protected against short circuits. If radios are connected they can only to be operated in pairs, even if CB3 are used. The IB3 can also allow a remote user to be connected into the harness using a remote handset to communicate with the crew over the intercom but not to control any installed radio.

The IB3 is then daisy chained with 12 pin harness cables to the Crew Boxes CB2, see diagram below.

The CB2 boxes are the main unit by which the personnel can connect into the audio system. Each CB2 allows up to two headsets with Pressel Switches and / or handsets to be connected to the intercom system. The CB2 also allows the operator to select and operate either radio A or B and to monitor the other radio.

We have put together the ANR versions of this intercom kit together for two, three and four operators. Each operator gets a CB2 box with a harness cable and a ANR Headset with Pressel Switch. Please ask for other combinations of boxes and audio accessories.

Extension Cable for Clansman 24 volt back-pack batteries. One end of the cable screws on top of the radios battery terminal and the other end screws on top of the battery's output terminal and allows the radio to be operated away from the battery.

This cable can also be modified by cutting the battery end off and connecting it to a stabilised 24 Volt DC power supply to operate the radio with-out a battery. Works with the following Clansman back-pack radios, PRC-320, PRC-344, PRC-351 and PRC-352. Supplied in very good condition.

This is the external Warning Light Unit for the DOM-410 Geiger Counter. It is a rectangular box 11 * 10 * 4 Cm with a power and a signal cable. The power cable connects to 6-28 Volt DC external power source, which could be provided from a vehicle battery. The other cable connects to the = connection of the DOM-410 Geiger Counter. There is a red light on one side of the warning box that flashes red to indicate radiation when the reading on the Geiger Counter scale lies between 0.3 and 0.7 of the scale, depending on the selected range. The unit is supplied in very good working condition, Grade 2.

Clansman 2.5 Meter Whip Antenna for PRC-319, PRC-320 Man-Pack radios. There are 8 sections to this antenna, when erected the total length is 250 Cm (98.5 inch). The antenna plugs in to the springy whip adapter of the PRC-320 and in to a special antenna holder of a PRC-319. Supplied in very good condition. NSN: 5820-99-661-6859.

This is the Clansman 5.4 Meter antenna mast kit. There are 6 lightweight strong hollow fibreglass tubes that push fit in to one another for a total height of 5.4 meters. The mast requires a ground area of approximately 6 meters for the erection of the mast and tie down ropes. The Clansman Elevated Ground Spike Antenna EGSA fits on top of this mast kit and is used with Clansman VHF as well as HF radios. The kit is supplied in good condition with accessories.

The DOM-410 Geiger Counter was used by Dutch, French and Belgian Army in the late 1970's early 1980's. It is manufactured to high standard under license from SRAT. It is hermetically sealed unit and water tight.

The Beta Gamma probe has a removable Gamma shield, and is quite large, giving it a sensitivity of roughly 1 CPS background. In the CPS mode, 1000 CPS = 1 mr per hour. It has 3 Time constants Rapide, Lent, Mesure and 3 ranges 10 CPS, 100 CPS, 1000 CPS. In the Gamma only mode, the selector uses the internal gamma compensated tube, which may be removed from the side of the unit, and placed at the end of a 20 foot cable for remote monitoring. In the mr per hour mode it uses the internal gamma tube to measure 1-1000 millirads per hour.

When switched to the Rad/hr mode, the internal or remote mounted gamma only tube will measure from 1 rad per hour up to 1,000 rads per hour. Overall, it is a very sensitive Geiger counter that is robustly built and designed to take allot of abuse.

This is the CX-2031 power input cable for the GRC-9 radio power supply, the DY-88. These cables are about 15-20 Cm long and would have normally gone into a junction box which was mounted somewhere near the radio before they were cut off. The other end of the Junction Box would have been connected to the vehicle battery.

The connector on these cables can easily be taken apart to install a new longer cable. The connectors are also suitable for the PP-112 / GRC as well as many other American radios made in the 1950
