Clansman HF 250 Watt Antenna Tuner Unit TURF
This is the Clansman 250 Watt HF Antenna Tuner TURF for use with the Clansman 250 Watt RF Power Amplifier. The TURF and the 250 Watt RF Amplifiers were designed to upgrade the standard VRC-321 to a VRC-322. The TURF is used to match the antennas length to the transmitting frequency of the radio for optimum performance and achieve maximum range. It can also be used with other HF radios having an output power of up to 250 Watts.

The British Army Clansman HF 250 Watt RF Power Amplifier. These amplifiers were designed to upgrade the standard VRC-321 to a VRC-322. We have been asked many times for a easy Vehicle Intercom set-up. Here we have put together a Clansman intercom kit for up to 4 stations.
This intercom kit can be used stand alone with-out a radio in any vehicle having a battery voltage of 24-28 Volt DC. It can also be used with up to two Clansman radios connected to the intercom.
The main unit in this kit is the Interconnecting Box 3 radio IB3. The IB3 provides audio amplification and DC power for the rest of the boxes. The IB3 can have up to 3 radios connected if used with Crew Boxes 3 Set CB3 but in this setup we are using CB2 boxes which provide connection up to 2 Clansman radios. If you require CB3 boxes with this kit then please let us know.
The IB3 requires 24-28 Volt DC to operate. This is taken from the vehicles power source. The IB3 is fuse protected against short circuits. If radios are connected they can only to be operated in pairs, even if CB3 are used. The IB3 can also allow a remote user to be connected into the harness using a remote handset to communicate with the crew over the intercom but not to control any installed radio.
The IB3 is then daisy chained with 12 pin harness cables to the Crew Boxes CB2, see diagram below.
The CB2 boxes are the main unit by which the personnel can connect into the audio system. Each CB2 allows up to two headsets with Pressel Switches and / or handsets to be connected to the intercom system. The CB2 also allows the operator to select and operate either radio A or B and to monitor the other radio.
We have put together this intercom kit together for two, three and four operators. Each operator gets a CB2 box with a harness cable and a Headset with Pressel Switch. Please ask for other combinations of boxes and audio accessories.

This is the Clansman PRC-319 Antenna Tuner Unit RF TURF. Extender Manufactured by MEL Type No. BA1305. It is used to extend the tuning range of the PRC-319 TURF and match the transmitting frequency of the PRC-319 to the antenna to give optimum performance and achieve maximum range with the radio set. This is a Clansman PRC-319 Dipole Balun. A Balun is a device that interfaces or matches the balanced antenna input of a radio to an unbalanced antenna load and is mainly connected to HF man-pack radios connected to a dipole wire antenna. The word Balun is derived from the words of BALanced to UNbalanced. A common example of where a Balun would be needed is at the feed point of a dipole antenna when a coaxial antenna wire from a radio is used. The Clansman PRC-319 is a real Spy Radio as used by the British Special Forces (SAS) in England as well as USA, Australia, and New Zealand. There were only 350 units manufactured for use in England by MEL.
The PRC-319 is a 50 Watt modern microprocessor based radio transceiver that transmits in both the HF and VHF bands, up to Aircraft frequencies for ground to air communications. Frequency range is 1.5 to 40 MHz with LCD frequency readout. The Electronic Message Unit EMU is a small alphanumeric keyboard that allows transmission of written words when voice transmissions would be dangerous, as well as data, coordinates, and direct communication with fire control and direction computers. The PRC-319 is also a burst transmitter which can store messages for up to 500 hours before automatically transmitting it at a high data rate. The radio can be operated by remote control from up to 50 meters away. The burst transmission feature allows considerable security over conventional radios. Transmitting range is 20Km with short antenna and up to 5000Km with a whip antenna. Clansman PRC-319, PRC-320 Morse Key
These Morse keys are used with the British Clansman PRC-319 and PRC-320 or other Clansman back-pack radios. designed to be strapped to the leg, the cable terminates with a 7 pin standard Clansman audio plug. Can easily be modified and used with other radio equipment. The Belt Buckles are missing from these keys.

The Counterpoise Antenna provides an artificial earth for all antennas when used on ground of poor conductivity, such as desert of frozen snow and ice, and should always be used with the ground wave vertical or end feed antennas. In use the wires are spread radially around the radios such as a Clansman PRC-320 and the short lead from the main spool connected to the earth terminal of the radio. The counterpoise Antenna should always be used if doubtful about the ground conditions. Using this counterpoise antenna often improves the radios performance. Supplied in good condition.

This Spring whip adapter plugs in to the top of the Clansman RT-320 / PRC-320 radio. The whip antenna rod then plugs in to the springy adapter. The springy whip can be set for vertical or horizontal antenna position when the radio is used as a back pack or when it is lying down an a flat surface.

The Clansman Hand Generator is used with the Clansman back-pack radios such as the PRC-344, PRC-351, PRC-352, PRC-320. It clips on between the radio and the battery and by turning the hand crank it generates 24 Volt DC for charging a standard Clansman 24 Volt battery to operate the radio. The Clansman PRC-349 is a modern synthesised VHF/FM radio Frequency range is 37 to 46.95 MHz in 25 KHz spacing providing 400 possible channels and a maximum output power of 1 Watt. Frequency selection by 3 small thumb wheel knobs on the side of the radio which can be operated even while the operator is wearing Arctic mittens, or in the dark by counting clicks from the end-stops. Has Clansman compatible squelch and whisper modes of operation with battery saving function. Operates from 12 VDC using 10* AA batteries inserted inside the battery cassette.

Clansman PRC-349 12 Volt battery cassette type BCC-348C. The battery cassette easily comes apart and takes 10 normal or rechargeable AA batteries providing a convenient way to power the radio. Clansman PRC-350 14.4 Volt 4Ah Rechargeable Nickel Cadmium Battery Pack
This is the Clansman 14.4 Volt Rechargeable Nickel Cadmium Battery Pack, capacity 4Ah. The battery is used with some Clansman Man-Pack radios such as PRC-350.
The metal battery pack is supplied in used condition and may not last for long. However as they are metal construction with the top riveted on they can be taken apart for cell replacement.

The Clansman Selective Unit Radio Frequency SURF 2 Watt for use with the Clansman PRC-350 VHF radio set. The SURF is used when more than one radio is used in close proximately and prevents one radio interfering with the other radio. Clansman PRC-351M VHF Man-Pack Transceiver with BID Interface
This is the Clansman VRC-351M Back-Pack Radio that was mainly used by the Royal Marines. The radio is basically a PRC-351 that has been upgraded to work with the Clansman BID system, British Inter Departmental. The BID system is some sort of army voice or data encryption system? that is still secret and unavailable.
The upgrade is a interface board connected internally to one of the audio sockets of the PRC-351 which now acts as the BID interface. The radio can still be used as a normal PRC-351 with-out the BID system attached.The PRC-351M is a 4 Watt portable VHF (FM) Radio, made by RACAL BCC Ltd. in England. The PRC-351M has been designed to provide command communications at battalion and company level for dismounted troops. It was also used in vehicles by mounted troops.
Frequency Range 30 to 76.000 MHz in 25 Khz steps giving a total of 1841 programmable channels. The desired frequency is set by four knobs on the side of the radio which can be operated even while the operator is wearing Arctic mittens, or in the dark by counting clicks from the end-stops.
Intermediate Freq 11.525 MHz, Frequency Stability 5 ppm per year. Voice F3E Narrow with +/- 5 Khz deviation, Telegraph F2, 75 Baud.
A Whisper mode is provided for use when quiet conditions are essential. In this mode the receiver's audio output volume is reduced and the microphone sensitivity is increased. A Loud mode is also provided for operation in noisy environments as well as a Noise-On switch position which allows the radio to operate with the squelch in the off mode.
Local Squelch facility by either 150 Hz tone modulation of radiated signal, or by 160 Hz superimposed on receive signal. Auto-Rebroadcast operates on 150Hz Modulated receive signal.
Output power of the radio is 4 Watts into a 50 Ohm load and the transmitting range is up to 10 Km when used with 1.2 meter standard whip antenna in open country side, and up to 20 Km when used with a vehicle antenna. The radio can be capable of transmitting to much greater distances by adding an external clip on 20 Watt RF amplifier. In this configuration the radio would effectively become a Clansman PRC-352M which is available elsewhere on this website.
If more than one radio set is used in close proximately a Selective Unit RF 4 Watt SURF should be installed on top of the PRC-351M radio. The SURF prevents one radio interfering with the other radio. The SURF is then tuned to give optimum performance and achieve maximum range with the radio set.
The radio is powered by a standard Clansman 24 Volt battery pack. The battery clips on to the bottom of the radio. The radio can also be powered / recharged with a Hand Generator which clips on between the radio and the battery. It can also be powered externally from Vehicle power supply or a 24 Volt DC Power Supply such as the UK-AC1-2870 14/28 Volt AC Adaptor, connected to the radio with a modified battery extension lead.

This is the Clansman VRC-352M Back-Pack Radio that was mainly used by the Royal Marines. The radio is basically a PRC-351 that has been upgraded to work with the Clansman BID system, British Inter Departmental. The BID system is some sort of army voice or data encryption system? that is still secret and unavailable.

The Clansman RT-350 / PRC-350 is a narrow-band FM VHF man-pack radio that operates from 36-57MHz in 2KHz steps, total of 841 programmable channels with 2 Watts output. The desired frequency is set by four knobs on the side of the radio which can be operated even while the operator is wearing Arctic mittens, or in the dark by counting clicks from the end-stops.
Having set the four frequency control knobs the operator has then to set the only remaining control, the system switch, to one of its four positions: Off, Whisper, Loud and Noise-On.

The unit is a microprocessor based battery charger and conditioner for Clansman Nickel Cadmium batteries. The system comprises of two main units, The IBMS and the interchangeable battery tray. Depending on the battery tray installed the IBMS is capable of simultaneously charging up to eight different Nickel Cadmium ôNiCdö batteries at the same time.
Power on self test ôBITEö and it can provide independent status reports for all the batteries installed in the battery tray. A tactical operation facility enables all the visual LED indicators to be blacked out and all audible warnings to be stopped while the system is operating under a black out conditions.

Clansman VHF Ground Mounted Monopole
The heavy duty Clansman Ground Mounted Monopole is a wide band vertical polarised Omni-directional antenna designed to be free standing. It does not require a antenna tuners or other adjustments for frequency and is suitable for use with ClansmanVRC-353,PRC-351,PRC-352 or any other VHF radio set with a 50 Ohm Co-axial outlet.
The antenna is low profile antenna and can easily be concealed when mounted on the ground. Inconspicuous and easily camouflaged. It was used in forward areas, where for tactical reasons a an elevated antenna is unsuitable. It can quickly be erected in any terrain. It is self standing, requiring no stays or pickets driven into the ground. It folds into a small bulk for transport.
The Antenna is in the form of a skeleton inverted pyramid with the total height of about 1.2 M mounted on an optimum-size ground plane. The elements forming the side of the pyramid are made of drawn triangular cross section aluminium. Hinges enable the structure to be folded.
